Egremont vs Annan U16W
Yesterday we welcomed Annan to Bleach Green for our first game of the season (friendly). We couldn’t have asked for a better day to play this game considering that the recent wet weather had put a bit of doubt on the fixture. Luckily, for one day, the sun shone and made it a fantastic day for a game of rugby.
The first quarter, Egremont flew out the blocks and scored a number of tries in quick succession. Annan eventually found their feet and brought the game to Egremont, stopping them from putting anymore points on the board, that quarter.
The 2nd quarter, was close and saw Annan put some points on the board of their own.
The second half was a little bit different to normal. With Annan being low on numbers it was decided by the coaches to mix it up a bit and we exchanged some players; Exchanging speed for strength and vice versa. It gave both teams some valuable information on where their weaknesses and strengths lie and how to adapt to change.
This game wasn’t about winning, it was about getting some miles in the legs and giving both coaches an insight into where improvements need to be made and of course making sure everyone had fun.
Matt would like to personally thank everyone that came down and showed their support. It was brilliant to see players and their parents, from the younger age groups, coming down and cheering the girls on. We will be seeing Annan again later on in the season in a return fixture which is going to be an interesting game.
